GUIDES

Founded in 1843 by Field Cornet Pieter de Villiers and known as the 'Sleeping Beauty of the Overberg', Villiersdorp is surrounded by lush farmlands, spectacular mountains and the magnificent Theewaterskloof Dam. Noted for its fruit and wine. Villiersdorp Wine Cellar is unique to the Overberg region. It was formed in 1922 and is one of the oldest wine cellars in the country, with its members producing 11 000 tons of grapes annually. It boasts a wide range of export wines.

Completed in 1980, Theewaterskloof Dam is the 7th largest in the country. Popular for watersports, including angling, the dam is also the supplier of water to the Cape Metropolitan area.
