![]() This victorian village is 20km inland from Hermanus and is one of the few villages in South Africa where the 'common' (village market square) has been retained. This, and the interesting architecture of the houses built before 1940, led to the central core of the village being proclaimed a national conservation area. The village sprawls along the banks of the Klein River.
The surrounding valleys feature numerous vineyards, an award-winning cheesemaker and a micro-brewery. Health spas and healing, whale-watching and winemaking, hiking and horse-riding, birding and bicycles - all can be enjoyed in this scenic area.
