GUIDES

A valley of magnificence, Barrydale falls into three natural regions, offering an unrivalled diversity of vegetation and wildlife in a 30km radius. To the east lies the lush forest vegetation of Grootvaderbosch, to the north the dry and Klein Karoo, and to the west, the fertile fruit-growing region of the Cape. Geographically, geologically and scenically it is not part of the Karoo but supports unique features of it’s own that ensure its place as a very special part of South Africa.

Barrydale, like all little Little Karoo villages, has known times of hardship and prosperity. Today is the centre of a prosperous farming district, it enjoys perfect year round weather and its wonderful scenic setting attracts a steadily growing number of visitors.
