Graskop was originally set up as a gold mining camp in the 1880's. It now serves as a timber industry and milling centre, set among magnificent surroundings. The town, whose appropriate name is Afrikaans for "grassy peak", is the ideal base from which to explore the incomparable Blyde River Canyon.
