![]() Rust de Winter is situated about 50 km north of Pretoria and about an hour's drive from Johannesburg International Airport. The Rust de Winter Reserve is close to the national N1 road and surrounds the 500-ha Rust de Winter Dam, incorporating a wide variety of landscapes and habitats including broad-leaved woodland, rocky woodland slopes, mixed woodland, riverine forest and alluvial acacia veld. This spectacular area is a popular angling and 4x4 adventure destination. In fact, 4x4 enthusiasts travel from all over the country to attend the annual Rust de Winter Gymkhana held at the Jeep club grounds in Rust de Winter. This is one of the biggest off-road events in Southern Africa. It is a thrilling 3 day event with a whole host of activities including a treasure hunt, off road trial, concourse and the main event obviously being the gymkhana. The race is nail biting and always loads of fun!
