Just 40km north of Durban, Ballito's warm Indian Ocean waters are the playground of dolphins and whales, and to the holidaymakers who come to watch them. Crayfish, oysters and mussels are also there for the picking for the token price of a licence from the local Parks Board office. Fishing, scuba diving and surfing are other popular attractions.

Ballito is the pearl of the subtropical Dolphin Coast, and offers accommodation to please all tastes. Accommodation in Ballito ranges from comfortable bed & breakfast guesthouses and lodges to self-catering chalets, cottages, maisonettes, houses and apartments. Nearby golf courses are also very welcoming, as are an abundance of restaurants and pubs in this resort borough. Ballito even boasts discos and cinemas. Zululand's famous game reserves and historical Anglo-Zulu battlefields are a leisurely drive away, all served by comfortable accommodation.
